Job Description
Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Structural Analyst to join their Structural & Mechanical Systems team. In this role, the candidate will contribute to the analysis, design validation, and future improvements of spacecraft structures, Photon platforms, and related payload and mission objectives. The Senior Structural Analyst will process flight/test data, demonstrate structural margin through detailed analysis, and set requirements for validation through testing. They will also specify/review instrumentation, assess risks, and mentor other engineers.
Responsibilities: - Lead the analysis of primary and secondary structures.
- Build, run, and post-process finite element models.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers.
- Contribute to the definition of test plans and support test activities.
- Define suitable sensors to monitor in-flight environments.
- Mentor and technically assist junior engineers.
Requirements: - A degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or similar field.
- 5+ years industry experience.
- Expertise with structural FEA packages (NASTRAN, ANSYS, Abaqus, Optistruct/Hyperworks).
- Experience with vibration and shock testing.
- Experience with sensor selection and data post-processing.
- Experience with static and dynamic structural test methods.
- Strong understanding of composites engineering fundamentals.
