Senior Principal Engineer

Job Description

Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to oversee various satellite programs at its Long Beach, California headquarters. This role supports the Space Systems Chief Engineer and involves providing oversight and review of spacecraft system engineering, including requirement derivation, verification techniques, vehicle performance budgets, test methods, and data analysis. The Senior Principal Engineer will also provide technical leadership in future architectures, platforms, and payloads, assist with program and product management, and support the development and maintenance of technology roadmaps.

• Provide oversight and review of spacecraft system engineering
• Assist or lead system and subsystem architectural developments
• Support the development and maintenance of technology roadmaps
• Participate in Engineering Review Board dispositions

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline
• 15+ years of experience supporting satellite or spacecraft programs
• Understanding of spacecraft subsystems and their associated components
• Thorough understanding of the space environment, orbital mechanics, and rigid body dynamics
• Experience with satellite operations
• U.S. citizenship is required
