Job Description
Axon is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to provide Quality Engineering support for all Axon products. This role involves working with suppliers in cooperation with Axon Design Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain. The Supplier Development Engineer will contribute to the selection of qualified suppliers, improve supplier performance, and positively impact the quality of new products.
What This Role Involves:
- Auditing supplier manufacturing & inspection processes.
- Engaging in supplier selection and evaluation activities.
- Ensuring flow down of Axon Supplier Quality Manual to its supply base.
- Assisting with New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Reviewing product validation by supplier (FAIR).
- Assessing supplier inspection capabilities onsite.
- Evaluating supplier engineering drawings and specifications.
- Participating in measuring and reporting supplier quality performance.
- Issuing Non-Conformance Material Reports (NCMRs) and Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCAR).
- Identifying complex problems and implementing solutions.
- Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry and/or Material Engineering
- 1-3 years experience in manufacturing of mechanical parts
- Knowledge of quality management system (QMS) requirements
- Minimum two (2) years experience in first and second party audits
- Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, schematics, block diagrams and Engineering Change Notices (ECR, ECO)
- Solid understanding of receiving, in-process and outgoing inspection processes
- Excellent problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and oral communication in English
- Experience working with statistical software
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Proficient in selected Microsoft office applications
