Job Description
Axon is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to join their Video Electrical Engineering Sustaining team. This role focuses on maintaining, debugging, qualifying, and supporting regulatory certification for in-market video product electronics designs. The engineer will address component obsolescence, implement design improvements, and debug critical issues. They will also support regulatory testing to renew global certifications and enable sales in new regions.
The role involves:
  • Updating circuit designs to address component obsolescence and cost savings.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams and manufacturing teams.
  • Executing bench verification and performance evaluation using laboratory tools.
  • Performing debug, failure analysis, and rework of electronics systems.
  • Improving embedded high-density, high-speed mixed-signal electronic circuits using OrCAD Schematic tools.
  • Teaming with PCB Design engineers to implement printed circuit board layout updates.
  • Testing and evaluating basic RF performance of wireless circuitry.
  • Mapping out test methods and driving test plans for evaluating electronics design changes.
  • Providing hardware support to the global regulatory compliance team for product certifications.
  • Updating and finalizing Bill of Materials and other design documentation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years of industry electronics design or electronics sustaining experience.
  • Proficiency with identifying and implementing alternate source electronic component solutions.
  • Proficiency with general process of making design changes to Bills of Material (BOMs), schematics, layouts.
  • Strong proficiency with basic discrete analog and digital circuit design.
  • Demonstrated experience with component selection, circuit design, and verification testing.
  • Experience with High Speed circuit design and test.
  • Basic experience with RF integration and test.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency with electronics characterization, verification, debug, and failure analysis using laboratory tools.
  • Schematic design proficiency using industry leading design tools, including BOM development.
  • Proficiency collaborating with PCB engineers to realize PCB design.
  • Experience with basic regulatory tests, test preparation, and debugging products to pass regulatory standards.
  • Proficiency creating test plans needed to verify EE component and circuit changes.
  • Independent contributor capable of working within cross-functional and geographically diverse engineering teams.
  • Solid skills with documentation, analysis, and presentations tools.
