Job Description
Axon is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead its Android-focused engineering team within the Robotics division. This role is pivotal in driving the development of cutting-edge software solutions that enhance public safety through real-time AI, video streaming, and data management. The Engineering Manager will be instrumental in shaping the future of Axon’s Android-based software systems, including those used in the Ground Control Station (GCS) for advanced robotics. This position is primarily remote, requiring candidates to reside near Boston for occasional in-person collaboration.Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring alignment of team objectives with organizational goals.
- Leading planning, prioritization, stand-ups, and team retro meetings.
- Partnering with product managers and designers to deliver user-friendly Android applications.
- Collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Developing and reviewing code in Java/Kotlin.
- Hiring and mentoring a high-performing engineering team.
- Coaching the team to improve processes and achieve engineering excellence.
- Delivering new features and product improvements regularly.
- Helping manage Android application and custom Android build releases.
Requirements include:
- 8+ years in software development with 2+ years in people management.
- Experience leading Android application or embedded Android engineering teams.
- Proven success in planning and delivering multiple projects.
- Experience implementing Engineering Processes that emphasize Quality, Security, Maintainability, Extensibility and Operational Discipline.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a diverse engineering team.
- Strong background in Android development.
