Job Description
Axon is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join their team in Seattle. This role involves fostering a collaborative environment and working closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and other engineering teams. The Senior Staff Software Engineer will act as a liaison between these teams and executive leadership to ensure alignment between technical initiatives and business goals. Additionally, they will advise the VP on technical matters and strategic direction, providing expert guidance on technology decisions. They will also be a center of excellence, promoting a culture of quality, customer obsession, and simplicity.
What this role involves:
- Setting and editing technical direction directly in programs and indirectly in reviews, communications, and documentation
- Providing architectural guidance to technical leaders
- Facilitating technology lifecycle and strategy roadmap
- Evaluating/reviewing and improving existing systems and procedures
- Advising the VP on technical matters and strategic direction
Requirements:
- Successfully engendered a culture of engineering excellence across a broad organization
- Proven track record in driving the architecture for a large scale, cloud-based product with high availability, low latency, and high reliability
- Proficiency with multiple data storage systems such as RDBMS, Cassandra, and large file systems and cloud-based architecture and designs
- Demonstrated value in driving features that improve customer experience
- Identifies future challenges/obstacles and opportunities for the technical roadmap
- Strong, data-driven decision-making approach, influencing with transparency
- Proven experience in mentoring and growing other staff engineers
- Strong leadership skills fostering a collaborative environment
