Job Description
Oklo Inc. is seeking a Siting and Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to their plant siting projects and support licensing and deployment planning for Oklo nuclear facilities. The role involves coordinating with external consultants, defining scopes of work, managing project timelines, and ensuring integration of geotechnical considerations into project planning. The engineer will also identify and mitigate safety challenges, track regulatory changes, represent site safety interests, prepare executive summaries, collaborate with operations and construction teams, and document work using modern tools.
Responsibilities: - Coordinate with external geotechnical and seismic design consultants and contractors.
- Define scopes of work, review technical proposals, and oversee execution of geotechnical site investigations.
- Develop, maintain, and manage project timelines and milestones.
- Ensure integration of geotechnical considerations into broader project planning.
- Identify and mitigate safety challenges posed by the site.
- Track changes in State and Federal laws and regulations.
- Represent site safety interests in cross-functional meetings.
- Oversee internal site safety project management systems and reporting protocols.
- Prepare executive-level summaries and briefings for senior leadership.
- Collaborate with operations team and engineering, procurement, and construction contractor on site preparations.
- Document work using modern tools and techniques and write well-written, thoughtful, technical reports.
- Develop site investigations and site preparations strategies that meet building code requirements and result in cost minimization.
Requirements: - Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in geology, geotechnical, or environmental engineering
- Experience in siting and geotechnical investigation, earthworks projects in different soil types, and seismic related assessment and analyses
- Experience with building construction methods, building systems, and cost implications
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as IBC and ASCE
- Passionate about clean energy and making advanced fission a reality
