Altos Labs is seeking a Director of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) for their Cambridge Institute. This role is crucial for developing and implementing EHS programs and policies to prevent occupational injuries, mitigate hazards, and minimize environmental impacts, ensuring compliance with HSE regulations.

The Director will represent Altos Cambridge Institute on EHS matters, working with regulatory agencies, inspectors, partners, and project teams. The role involves managing site activities and potentially global EH&S activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the Cambridge Institute Health and Safety Committee.
  • Representing EHS at the Cambridge Institute Operations Committee.
  • Managing all site EH&S programs, including Emergency Planning and Response, Laboratory Safety Programs, and Hazardous Materials Management.
  • Developing and implementing new training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Conducting facility EH&S inspections to mitigate hazards.
  • Partnering with Facilities to ensure effective and compliant waste management.
  • Leading the site planning & coordination of emergency drills.
  • Performing job site Risk Assessments.
  • Maintaining EH&S records and permits.
  • Acting as Biological Safety Officer/Adviser for the Cambridge Institute.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in physical science or engineering.
  • Minimum of (10) ten years of experience in EHS administration and leadership.
  • Experience with developing and implementing EHS programs for startup laboratory operations preferred.
  • Professional certification desirable in IOSH or NEBOSH.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to HSE, COSHH, International building and fire codes.
