Altos Labs, a biotechnology start-up focused on cellular rejuvenation, is seeking a Director/Senior Director of Intellectual Property. This role is located onsite in Redwood City, California, and reports to the Head of Global IP. The ideal candidate will be an energetic and creative patent lawyer or agent who can thrive in a collaborative environment.
The Director/Senior Director will be a trusted advisor and partner for the Bay Area Institute, handling all legal matters including transactions. They will be responsible for advising on patentability, freedom to operate, IP transactions, and other corporate initiatives. Additionally, they will prepare and prosecute global patent applications, provide counsel on trade secrets, copyrights, and trademarks, and collaborate with other legal, business, and science functions.
Responsibilities include:
- Serving as the first point of contact for all legal matters.
- Managing all legal matters relating to patentability.
- Preparing global patent applications and maintain global patent portfolios.
- Providing advice and counsel on trade secrets, copyrights and trademarks.
- Maintaining current knowledge of IP case law and emerging industry trends.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience providing IP support in the pharma or biotech industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or related sciences.
- Registered before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
- Admission to the California Bar or ability to qualify as Registered In-House Counsel.
- Experience in global IP portfolio management and IP transactions.
