RightShip is seeking a Senior DataOps Engineer to join their team in Malta. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of maritime safety and environmental advocacy, contributing to the company's transformative journey through innovation, digital solutions, and data-driven strategies. This role involves architecting and maintaining cutting-edge data solutions to address the maritime industry's challenges.
The Senior DataOps Engineer will collaborate with a dedicated team of Data Engineers, championing data management, upholding data integrity, and bolstering RightShip's commitment to robust data governance. The role's expertise will empower RightShip to harness data's potential, guiding strategic decisions and amplifying the company's value proposition.
Role involves:
- Leading the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure.
- Defining and driving the DataOps strategy in alignment with business priorities.
- Mentoring and guiding junior DataOps Engineers.
- Architecting and optimizing modular, reusable, and scalable workspaces.
- Promoting best practices across data versioning, data lineage, testing, observability, and access controls.
- Taking ownership of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions.
- Ensuring reliable, performant, and secure data flows across environments.
- Acting as a subject matter expert for Unity Catalog, data sharing, and cloud-native permission management.
- Driving monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure platform reliability and operational visibility.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in a DataOps, DevOps, or Data Engineering role.
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred).
- Proven experience with a cloud-based Lakehouse platform such as Databricks, Fabric or Snowflake.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and automation principles.
- Strong skills in T-SQL, Git-based version control, and Python scripting.
- Deep understanding of data governance and security frameworks, especially in relation to Unity Catalog or similar platforms.
- Experience managing production-grade Spark (PySpark) workloads and performance optimization.
