Job Description
Rocket Lab is seeking a Buyer II - Indirect Purchasing (IT Spend) to be based onsite at their global headquarters in Long Beach, CA. The Buyer II will be responsible for placing all purchase orders for Rocket Lab, supporting engineering R&D through production ramp, and securing the supply of thousands of parts used to build launch vehicles, satellite systems, and their components. This role specifically focuses on procuring all IT equipment and services for Rocket Lab.
The Buyer II will make daily decisions that ensure Rocket Lab meets its cost, quality, and delivery goals. They will also manage relationships with suppliers and negotiate terms to meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
What this role involves:
- Sourcing materials and evaluating vendor capability, price, delivery needs, and performance.
- Ensuring on-time delivery of materials to Rocket Lab.
- Owning the business relationship with assigned suppliers.
- Managing the RFQ process to secure competitive bids.
- Integrating with Engineering teams to meet procurement requirements.
- Providing status updates to material planners on purchase orders and delivery dates.
- Maintaining purchase order data within the ERP system.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Management, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience as a Buyer, Manufacturing Engineer, or equivalent.
- Proven ability to source, onboard, and negotiate pricing with suppliers.
- Knowledge of purchasing processes.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
