Job Description
KAYAK, a part of Booking Holdings, is seeking a MySQL Database Administrator to join their team in Concord, MA. This role involves assisting the database operations team in monitoring, maintaining, and improving the availability and performance of database systems. The Database Administrator will work closely with engineering teams to implement solutions, conduct upgrades, and ensure the application of security and bug fixes.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the monitoring, availability, and performance of database systems.
- Managing account creation, privileges, backups, and infrastructure automation.
- Collaborating with engineering teams to implement solutions and fixes.
- Participating in on-call pager rotation.
- Tracking release notes and conducting upgrades.
- Assisting in the design, development, and documentation of services.
Requirements:
- 1+ year of experience with MySQL & PostgreSQL.
- Experience in a 24x7 web-facing environment.
- Proficiency in Linux (Redhat/CentOS preferred).
- Experience with Atlassian Jira.
- Experience solving and remediating poorly performing queries.
- Scripting skills in Ruby/Python/Perl/bash or equivalent.
- Good understanding of database backup and recovery strategies.
- Strong oral and written English communication skills.
