Field Engineering Lead, Japan

Wayve is seeking a Field Engineering Lead in Japan. This role is crucial for maintaining the operational efficiency of Wayve's vehicle fleet. The Field Engineering Lead will be responsible for the rapid diagnosis and resolution of vehicle software and hardware issues. They will lead a team of field engineers, ensuring quick response times and effective solutions to keep vehicles on the road.

The Field Engineering Lead will collaborate with global teams and participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support. This position offers an opportunity to shape processes and drive efficiency within a fast-paced environment as part of the new Fleet Operations function.

Responsibilities:

• Lead on-site fault triage and resolution.
• Collaborate with the Reliability Engineering team.
• Develop and enforce structured processes for fault diagnosis and repair.
• Oversee and support field engineers.
• Ensure rapid response and resolution, meeting the 15-minute issue response and one-hour repair SLA.
• Manage global operational handovers.
• Coordinate on-call support and shift coverage.
• Uphold strict safety and compliance standards.
• Continuously improve field engineering support.

Requirements:

• Lead by example in hardware, software, and automotive system issue resolution.
• Take full ownership of the field engineering function within their respective location.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, fault triage, and repair processes.
• Skilled in process development, resource allocation, and workflow efficiency.
• Excellent ability to coordinate with global teams and provide clear technical guidance.
• Deep understanding of safety protocols and incident management.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
