Job Description
Smartly is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to develop data-driven solutions. This role will significantly impact the data architecture and strategy, ensuring readiness for AI/ML technologies. The engineer will work within a team of data engineers and analysts to enable smart business decisions based on data.Role involves:
  • Designing, developing, maintaining, and optimising data infrastructure
  • Working with large-scale cloud data warehouses like BigQuery and PostgreSQL
  • Designing, implementing, and managing ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Developing and maintaining internal tools for data processing
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams for seamless data integration
  • Building and maintaining APIs for data access
  • Creating common data structures and models for unified analysis and reporting
Requirements:
  • Architectural level thinking
  • Strong programming skills in SQL and Python
  • Hands-on experience with Airflow
  • Experience with cloud platforms and data warehousing solutions (e.g., AWS, Snowflake, GCP)
  • Experience with messaging and streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)
  • Fluency in English
  • Professional, problem-solving mindset
  • Availability to work from the Helsinki office three days a week
