Job Description

Appian is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join their team in McLean, Virginia. The Senior Product Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the Appian platform is fast, scalable, and adaptable to customer needs. This role involves solving complex scaling and flexibility challenges, contributing to a product used in diverse and innovative ways.Appian fosters a culture of in-person collaboration and expects employees to be in the office 5 days a week.In this role, the Senior Product Engineer will:

• Leverage knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns to write applications and solutions in existing Appian frameworks.
• Manage availability, latency, scalability, and efficiency of the product by engineering reliability into applications and systems.
• Contribute to application performance analysis and system tuning.
• Perform application and code reviews, providing feedback on quality, design, and implementation.
• Build automation to prevent problem recurrence.
• Mentor junior Product Engineers by sharing best practices and providing guidance.

Requirements for this role include:

• B.S. in Computer Science or STEM related field/degree.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in technical consulting or a related field.
• Fluency in Appian application development, data structures, integration, testing, scaling, optimization, and plug-in development.
• Experience in a high-volume or critical production service environment.
