Job Description
Gusto is seeking a Head of Platform Controls to join their Finance, BizOps & Strategy team. This role involves partnering with the Head of Platform Operations and Accounting to establish a scalable, forward-thinking controls environment. The Head of Platform Controls will be crucial in leading the internal controls program, focusing on core revenue and payment systems. This is an opportunity to build a critical function within a rapidly growing company, ensuring operational excellence and safeguarding Gusto's financial integrity.

Role involves:
  • Leading the development and implementation of the company's internal controls program.
  • Collaborating with consultants and cross-functional teams to define program scope and execute risk assessments.
  • Overseeing the creation and maintenance of comprehensive controls documentation.
  • Developing and executing a long-term strategy for the program.
  • Managing relationships with external auditors.
  • Partnering with business teams to stay informed about new product pipelines and initiatives.
  • Developing and delivering training programs on internal controls.
  • Preparing and presenting reports on the program's status to executive management.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in a Big 4 accounting firm, internal audit, or SOX compliance role.
  • Background leading SOX compliance or internal audit teams in a public or global organization.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and overseeing complex risk governance programs.
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, the COSO framework, and PCAOB Auditing Standards.
  • Proven track record managing audits of proprietary in-house systems.
  • Excellent project management and analytical skills.
  • Experience building and managing internal controls over revenue and payment systems.
  • Experience in a fintech or high-growth environment.
  • Ability to work in the San Francisco office two days per week.
