Software Engineer, Core Infrastructure

Job Description

Anthropic is seeking a seasoned Software Engineer to join its Core Infrastructure team. This role is pivotal in managing and optimizing the compute resources that power Anthropic's advanced AI systems. The engineer will work with cutting-edge hardware, including TPUs, GPUs, and Trainium chips, across multiple cloud providers, ensuring efficient and reliable AI model execution. The Core Infrastructure team manages all compute resources and infrastructure, ensuring optimal utilization, reliability, and performance at scale.Role involves:

• Leading technical strategy and implementation for critical infrastructure components.
• Partnering with users to identify pain points and develop end-to-end solutions.
• Collaborating with engineering leadership on roadmap planning and strategic direction.
• Driving cloud provider customizations and optimizations.
• Developing expertise across all infrastructure areas.
• Mentoring team members and promoting technical excellence.
• Designing and implementing systems for managing large-scale distributed compute resources.
• Leading initiatives to improve infrastructure reliability, efficiency, and performance.

Requirements:

• Deep expertise in Kubernetes management.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong hands-on coding skills.
• Experience with distributed systems architecture and design.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with 4+ years in infrastructure/platform roles.
• Expert proficiency in at least one systems programming language (Go, Rust, C++).
• Deep understanding of container orchestration and cluster management.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
• Strong debugging and performance optimization skills.
• Knowledge of modern observability practices.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
