AstroPay is seeking a VP of Engineering - Payments to lead the development and execution of its global payments strategy. This role is within the Engineering team and will ensure AstroPay delivers seamless, secure, and scalable payment solutions to users worldwide.

About the Role:
As the VP of Payments at AstroPay, the individual will be at the forefront of one of the most critical areas: the infrastructure that powers seamless transactions across the globe. This is a high-impact leadership role where strategic thinking meets technical execution. The individual will be responsible for driving the long-term vision, scalability, and performance of our payments & transfers ecosystem, while ensuring the team delivers innovative, secure, and efficient solutions. Partnering closely with Product, Risk, Compliance and Finance, the individual will play a key role in shaping how we move money — safely, instantly, and globally.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the global payments engineering strategy and execution, from UI to banking partner operations.
  • Design scalable and resilient systems that support real-time transactions across multiple regions and providers.
  • Manage and grow a high-performing engineering team, fostering ownership and excellence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Finance, Risk, and Compliance.
  • Monitor key metrics and own system performance, uptime, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international regulations.

Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, preferably within fintech, payments or banking.
  • Deep understanding of payment gateways, banking and transfers operations, transaction processing, fraud mitigation, and settlement systems.
  • Strategic thinker with strong execution capacity.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse, distributed engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
