Job Description
Cloud Chamber is seeking a talented and luminous Senior Lighting Artist to join their team and work on the next BioShock. The Senior Lighting Artist will work in the Unreal engine to create immersive and evocative lighting for both game environments and cinematic sequences. This role is fundamentally collaborative, working closely with other artists to add depth and life to environments and enhance cinematic storytelling through character lighting.
Role Involves:
- Contributing to the construction of the lighting production flow in the Unreal engine.
- Collaborating with technical and lighting artists across multiple sites to improve the composition of game environments.
- Partnering with animation and cinematic teams to light in-game and pre-rendered cinematics.
- Creating shot compositions and renderings of key art and marketing assets, where applicable.
- Collaborating with cinematic and VFX teams to resolve technical lighting issues.
- Troubleshooting in Blueprint and finding intelligent solutions.
- Supporting best practices and artistic standards within the team.
- Fostering a positive, proactive, and agile work environment that encourages innovation and collaboration.
- Working closely with the lighting art lead to understand and adhere to the visual style and artistic direction related to lighting.
- Contributing to and helping maintain efficient lighting workflows.
- Researching and sharing new lighting techniques and technologies to evolve and continuously improve practices.
- Working closely with other teams in the art department to achieve consistent and visually stunning results.
- Effectively receiving and applying constructive feedback as part of the iterative process, while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Maintaining and applying Cloud Chamber's values.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in real-time lighting in AAA 3D games, with the ability to generate final lighting and visual rendering.
- Operational proficiency in Lumen and Blueprint.
- Experience as a senior lighting artist on a AAA game.
- Experience in cinematic and character lighting.
- Bachelor's degree in Art or Digital Media, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with modern FPS engines and modern artistic production flows.
- Ability to support the development of complex lighting and workflow solutions.
- Experience developing high-quality lighting under runtime constraints.
- Ability to collaborate with a team of artists to achieve a common goal.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to express, support, and defend opinions while remaining open to divergent viewpoints.
- Attention to detail, respect for deadlines, and adaptability in a constantly growing environment.
