Proton is seeking a Database Platform Engineer to join its infrastructure department and enhance the scalability and reliability of its databases. The ideal candidate will collaborate with infrastructure and development teams to implement database best practices, improve automation, and reduce manual operations. What this role involves: - Supporting and managing web-scale fleet of mission-critical MySQL databases accessed through ProxySQL
- Boosting existing automation to reduce operational workload and increase reliability
- Designing, implementing, and executing new operational procedures and processes
- Using programming/scripting skills to improve and create new code for managing the database platform
- Providing expertise to optimize various layers of database infrastructure
- Troubleshooting complex technical problems to understand root causes and provide solutions
- Keeping the database platform up-to-date by preparing and executing upgrades
Requirements: - 3+ years of experience working with highly available databases systems
- Programming/scripting experience
- Knowledge of MySQL, ProxySQL, Ansible, and Linux
- Background in performance tuning and problem diagnosis at the OS, database, and application levels
- Experience with software management configuration tools and observability solutions
- Basic knowledge of networking, server hardware, storage, and operating systems
- Willingness and ability to learn quickly
- Readiness to share knowledge and collaborate with other engineering teams
