Staff Software Engineer (P4)

Job Description

Twilio is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join their Segment Engineering team. This role is remote and based in India. The successful candidate will help build and scale systems that support Twilio's Customer Data Platform (CDP). They will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing backend services that power data pipelines, APIs, and event-driven architectures.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services for Twilio Segment’s high scale data platform.
• Build scalable and high-performance APIs and data pipelines.
• Improve the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of Segment’s backend systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Drive best practices in software engineering.
• Ensure high operational excellence by monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining cloud services.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and technical roadmaps.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience writing production-grade backend code.
• Strong fundamentals in building fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Experience working with AWS cloud-based infrastructure.
• Well-versed in designing and building high-scale, low-latency APIs.
• Solid grasp of Linux systems and networking concepts.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience shipping services following the CI/CD development paradigm.
• Effective communication skills.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and problem-solving.
