Job Description
Notion is seeking an Engineering Manager to join their Web Infrastructure team. This role is based in either San Francisco or New York. The Web Infra team's mission is to empower engineers to build performant, scalable, and accessible product experiences. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for evolving the infrastructure strategy and technical architecture, supporting a team of senior engineers and managers to drive execution, and hiring and developing talent on the team. As an engineering leader, the Engineering Manager will help elevate Notion's entire engineering organization and culture.
What this role involves:
- Building and managing a diverse and inclusive team of engineers and managers.
- Creating a healthy team environment that embodies Notion's values.
- Recruiting, coaching, and developing engineers.
- Facilitating planning, prioritization, sequencing, and staffing of work.
- Maintaining a high-quality bar for team's output.
- Owning execution to deliver value to users.
- Shaping Notion's engineering organization.
- Developing technical practices, recruiting and onboarding strategy, planning and prioritization process.
Requirements:
- Experience managing senior engineering teams and managers, and scaling teams.
- Experience building diverse and inclusive teams.
- Ability to create collaborative, empowering, supportive, and challenging team environments.
- Sufficiently deep background in product and technology to ask the right questions, balance concerns, and make tradeoffs.
- Ability to tackle tough technical problems, understand trade-offs, and enable teams to make decisions.
- High tolerance for ambiguity and change.
- Empathetic and direct communication skills.
