Job Description
ShopMy is seeking a Controller to lead and build all accounting operations. This role reports to the Head of Finance and involves overseeing the full accounting cycle, ensuring compliance, and establishing financial best practices. The ideal candidate will be a systems-oriented leader who thrives in high-growth environments.
Responsibilities: - Lead and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare and maintain financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Develop scalable accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
- Ensure accurate application of SaaS revenue recognition principles (ASC 606).
- Own all federal, state, and local tax compliance and regulatory filings.
- Set up and maintain new legal entities and manage associated filings.
- Manage relationships with external auditors.
- Oversee invoicing, collections, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Continuously improve operational accounting processes.
- Maintain and evolve internal controls across all financial operations.
- Monitor daily cash positions and cash flow forecasting.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities.
- Evaluate, select, and maintain financial systems.
Requirements: - CPA certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- 2+ years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role.
- Experience at a high-growth startup (Series A–C) or high-growth private company.
- Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, technical accounting (including ASC 606), tax compliance, and operational accounting.
- Experience managing audits and establishing internal controls.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting software platforms (e.g., Xero, NetSuite).
- Highly organized with strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Experience working with SaaS revenue models, deferred revenue management, and recurring revenue metrics (ARR, churn) is highly preferred.
