Machine Learning Scientist

Job Description

Whatnot, the largest livestream shopping platform in North America and Europe, is seeking a Machine Learning Scientist to join their Core Machine Learning team. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying models and scaled solutions across various product surfaces, contributing to initiatives in search, recommendation, growth, trust and safety, and fraud.Whatnot is looking for someone with a low ego, growth mindset, and high-impact drive.What this role involves:

• Developing and deploying new production machine learning algorithms and systems.
• Building and setting direction across the entire machine learning development process.
• Contributing across the data science and machine learning development stack.
• Driving initiatives across multiple product areas and communicating findings.
• Designing and implementing end-to-end data pipelines and systems.
• Designing bespoke algorithmic solutions for Whatnot’s livestream auction ecosystem.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of professional experience developing machine learning systems and algorithms.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
• 1+ years of software or machine learning engineering experience building for consumer-scale loads.
• Industry experience applying scientific methods to solve real-world problems on consumer-scale data.
• Experience leading work to develop and deploy machine learning- and data-based solutions in production.
• Extensive experience with Python and SQL for data science, machine learning, and software development.
• Comfortability with data warehouses and transformation tools such as Snowflake, dbt, Dagster.
• Proficiency and experience in applied statistics and machine learning fields.
• Professionalism around collaborating in a remote working environment.
• Above average documentation and communication skills.
