Job Description

The Financial Times is seeking a Reporter for MandateWire, a subscription business covering institutional investor activities. The role is based in New York and focuses on producing daily news stories about North American institutional investors, including pension funds, foundations, and insurers.

The Reporter will be part of a team and will work in a supportive environment, driven by curiosity and a passion for accurate and timely news.

Responsibilities include:

  • Researching and writing daily news stories on institutional investment activity.
  • Building and maintaining a network of senior investment decision-makers.
  • Conducting telephone interviews with key sources across North America.
  • Analyzing financial data and reports to uncover insights.
  • Meeting editorial deadlines.
  • Collaborating with MandateWire and FT newsroom teams.

Requirements:

  • Journalism experience, preferably in financial services, investments, or pensions.
  • Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record of building rapport with senior executives.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage deadlines and workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills to sift through large datasets.
  • Clear communication and data interpretation skills.
