Platform Engineering Director at Vonage

Vonage is seeking a Platform Engineering Director to lead multiple global teams in the development and management of the Vonage Internal Developer Platform, a critical component for the company's technology teams and infrastructure standardization. This role involves participating in architecture discussions, maintaining the platform in both development and production environments, managing cost budgeting and forecasting, and making hiring decisions globally.

The Platform Engineering Director will ensure alignment with teams using the PaaS platform, focusing on cost-effective resource utilization, and will oversee the security and compliance of the platform. Continuous improvement based on customer feedback is also a key responsibility.

The role involves:

• Leading multiple teams globally in the development and management of the Vonage Internal Developer Platform.
• Participating in architecture discussions and maintaining the platform in development and production environments
• Managing cost budgeting and forecasting for systems across all vendors.
• Making hiring decisions globally and ensuring alignment with teams using the PaaS platform.
• Overseeing the security and compliance of the PaaS platform.
• Continuously improving the PaaS platform based on customer feedback.

Requirements include:

• 5-10 years of experience leading teams.
• 5+ years of experience maintaining a Kubernetes based platform.
• Expertise implementing CNCF tools (e.g., ArgoCD, Kyverno, Karpenter).
• Experience managing company-wide projects and working within the AWS environment.
• Deep understanding of DevSecOps processes, platform engineering theory, and development process automation.
• Proficiency in languages such as Python, Go, and Ruby, and tooling like Terraform, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Cloud Infrastructure including Infrastructure as Code.
