Job Description

Rocket Lab is seeking a Fluid Component Intern to join their team in Long Beach, California. This internship offers the opportunity to support the Neutron team in procuring hardware and driving the first build and test of components. The intern will also perform qualification tests to ensure components meet all functional requirements for flight. Rocket Lab is a global leader in launch and space systems, building rockets and satellites that enable vital space missions.

The Fluid Components team designs, sources, and manufactures all fluid components for Neutron and Archimedes.

• Working closely with a mentor and other employees to apply knowledge and grow skills.
• Applying engineering and industry concepts to solve real challenges.
• Attending frequent 1:1 meetings with mentors and supervisors.
• Participating in tech talks and networking events.

Requirements:

• Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s, master's or doctorate degree program in an engineering, physics or math discipline and have at least one semester of school remaining post internship
• GPA of 3.0 or above
• 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and personal/team project experience is applicable)

Nice to have:

• GPA of 3.5 or above
• 6+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and personal/team project experience is applicable)
• Computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/ CAM)
• CNC Experience
• 3D printing experience
• Python experience
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) experience
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience
• Lathe experience
• Knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, materials science
