Systems Engineer, Claude Code

Job Description

Anthropic is seeking a Systems Engineer to contribute to the development of Claude Code's core infrastructure, focusing on terminal integration and native execution capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in systems programming, shell integration, native packaging, and cross-platform development.

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for:

• Designing, building, and maintaining Claude Code's core terminal integration system.
• Architecting native packaging solutions using modern bundling technologies.
• Implementing and optimizing system-level features.
• Implementing low-level terminal protocols for rich CLI experiences.
• Building and maintaining the multi-architecture build pipeline.
• Developing cross-platform compatibility layers and testing infrastructure.
• Collaborating with security teams on sandboxing and secure asset extraction.

The role requires:

• 8+ years of industry software engineering experience with systems programming expertise.
• Deep knowledge of POSIX systems, shell environments, and terminal emulation.
• Experience with native application packaging and cross-platform distribution.
• Proficiency in Rust, Zig, C, and/or C++.
• Understanding of process management, IPC, and native module integration.
• Experience working on developer tools or CLI applications.
