Job Description
Rockstar Games is seeking a highly motivated and skilled SQL Administrator for their Database Operations team. This role is based in Carlsbad, CA, and involves providing operational and development support for critical platforms and services. The SQL Administrator will be responsible for monitoring, alerting, and tuning SQL Server instances to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Auditing server health and logs to identify and resolve issues.
- Implementing HA-DR solutions in multi-data center environments.
- Troubleshooting database performance problems.
- Automating day-to-day tasks.
- Setting up and configuring SQL Server installations.
- Performing routine patching and upgrades.
- Tuning and configuring SQL backups.
- Participating in 24/7 on-call rotation.
- Documenting processes and procedures.
- Providing guidance to SQL developers and architects.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration and development.
- Solid understanding of SQL Server internals.
- Knowledge of SQL Server configuration best practices.
- Extensive expertise with SQL backups and recovery.
- Experience with database deployments and source control.
- Strong experience with performance query tuning.
- Advanced T-SQL skills.
- Knowledge of storage, servers, operating systems, and application interaction.
- Experience working in large enterprises environments with high concurrency.
- An understanding of relational database theory.
- A sense of ownership, initiative, and drive.
- Team player with a get it done attitude.
