Job Description

Canonical, a leading open-source software provider, is seeking a Partner Sales Executive in Japan. This role involves expanding Canonical's channel sales team to capitalize on growing demand for open-source technology. The Partner Sales Executive will report to the Director, APAC Channel Sales, and will be responsible for achieving annual growth quotas through both farming and hunting activities.

The ideal candidate will identify, prospect, and engage reseller and distributor partners to build and maintain relationships and grow Canonical’s business within the assigned territory. They should be comfortable owning and leading initiatives in an unstructured, startup-like environment and be capable of selling open source, cloud, virtualization, and technical software solutions.

The role involves:

  • Developing and executing channel strategy for distributors and resellers within Japan
  • Increasing awareness of Canonical in Open Source and Cloud
  • Identifying and recruiting new potential partners
  • Guiding partners through onboarding and enablement
  • Developing mutually beneficial go-to-market plans
  • Arranging and executing sales and pre-sales trainings
  • Driving and managing channel pipeline
  • Supporting partner satisfaction
  • Maintaining regular contact with priority resellers and distributors

Canonical is looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology field
  • Experience in software or technology sales in the Japanese market
  • Fluency in English
  • Understanding of open source, Linux, and Ubuntu
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets
  • Strong follow-up and negotiating skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to work productively in a globally distributed team
  • Mature approach to long-term relationship development
  • Ability to represent the company at external events
  • Start-up experience (advantageous)
