Network Operations Engineer (Contract Position)

Job Description

Recursion is seeking a Network Operations Engineer to maintain the backbone of its technological infrastructure. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of Recursion's network across on-premises data centers and multi-cloud environments (GCP/AWS). The engineer will be part of the IT Operations team, addressing operational challenges and enhancing network services.

• Overseeing daily operations and maintenance of network and security infrastructure.
• Monitoring network performance and implementing optimizations.
• Diagnosing and resolving complex network incidents.
• Fulfilling network-related service requests.
• Maintaining and enhancing network security.
• Collaborating with the IT Engineering team on new network solutions.
• Developing and maintaining network documentation.
• Participating in an on-call rotation.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in network operations.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
• Hands-on experience with wired (LAN), wireless (WLAN), and data center network hardware and software solutions (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Aruba).
• Experience in network security principles and technologies, including firewall administration, network segmentation, and VPN configuration.
• Proficiency in managing core network services like DNS and DHCP.
• Experience with automation tools like Ansible and/or scripting languages like Python.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
