Heartflow is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their team in San Francisco. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the design, development, and scaling of backend services and APIs that power core product functionality. This role involves solving complex problems, influencing engineering best practices, and designing secure backend systems.Heartflow is a medical technology company focused on advancing the diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease. The company's flagship product is an AI-driven, non-invasive cardiac test called the Heartflow FFRCT Analysis.
Responsibilities: - Lead the design, development, and scaling of backend services and APIs.
- Solve complex problems in collaboration with Product and Engineering leadership.
- Influence engineering best practices and architecture patterns.
- Design and implement secure backend systems.
- Make high-impact architectural decisions.
- Identify technology risks and dependencies.
- Mentor and guide other engineers.
- Participate in security audits and compliance reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Proficiency in modern backend technologies (e.g., Python, Java, Go).
- Understanding of front-end technologies (e.g., Vue.js, JavaScript, React, Angular).
- Experience implementing authentication and authorization systems.
- Expertise in distributed systems and microservices architecture.
- Experience building secure RESTful APIs.
- Experience driving technical vision and leading architectural decisions.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Strong understanding of web security best practices.
- Experience with DevOps best practices (e.g., CI/CD pipelines).
