Job Description
Sotheby's is seeking a Property Handler to support various Specialist departments. This role involves handling a wide range of artwork, furniture, and other valuable objects within Sotheby's New York location.Responsibilities include:
  • Moving property throughout the building in coordination with Specialist Departments, Registrars, and Operations staff.
  • Receiving, opening, tagging, and scanning property as directed.
  • Transporting property to and from loading docks, departmental storage, and exhibition locations.
  • Preparing exhibition spaces, including placement of movable walls and display materials.
  • Placing property for display, including hanging and mounting items.
  • Assisting clients in viewing property during exhibitions.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of exhibition and back-of-house areas.
Requirements:
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends.
  • Prior fine art handling experience is a plus.
  • Must be well-groomed and in the proper uniform at all times.
  • Display a positive attitude and adhere to Sotheby's Service Standards
Sotheby's offers:
  • An hourly rate of $24.50/hour.
  • Overtime pay at the applicable rate.
  • Premiums based on seniority or project lead roles.
