Sotheby's is seeking a Property Handler to support various Specialist departments. This role involves handling a wide range of artwork, furniture, and other valuable objects within Sotheby's New York location.Responsibilities include:
Moving property throughout the building in coordination with Specialist Departments, Registrars, and Operations staff.
Receiving, opening, tagging, and scanning property as directed.
Transporting property to and from loading docks, departmental storage, and exhibition locations.
Preparing exhibition spaces, including placement of movable walls and display materials.
Placing property for display, including hanging and mounting items.
Assisting clients in viewing property during exhibitions.
Maintaining cleanliness of exhibition and back-of-house areas.
Requirements:
Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
Willingness to work overtime and weekends.
Prior fine art handling experience is a plus.
Must be well-groomed and in the proper uniform at all times.
Display a positive attitude and adhere to Sotheby's Service Standards
Sotheby's offers:
An hourly rate of $24.50/hour.
Overtime pay at the applicable rate.
Premiums based on seniority or project lead roles.
