Job Description
Monzo is seeking a Data Science Manager to lead a key product area within Financial Crime. This role involves collaborating with Product, Risk, and Engineering teams to champion the data strategy and lead a cross-functional team. The Data Science Manager will focus on improving financial crime detection, prevention, and mitigation, ensuring Monzo stays ahead of emerging threats and regulatory requirements.
Role Involves:
- Working closely with Product Managers, engineers, and Financial Crime control owners in an agile product environment.
- Championing the use of data and bringing ideas to life through a rigorous analytical approach.
- Improving efforts in financial crime detection, prevention, and mitigation.
- Helping the team grow by hiring new members and supporting their personal development.
- Managing a team of Data Scientists and Data Analysts, working with Analytics Engineers to drive product innovation.
Requirements:
- At least 4 years of experience as a Data Science Manager, with at least 2 years managing a data team larger than 4 people.
- Strong strategic data leadership skills.
- Experience working with executive or C-level peers and managing stakeholders across various levels of seniority and disciplines.
- Familiarity with a variety of Data Science tools and coding languages (Python and SQL).
- Experience in financial crime, fraud detection, or similar areas is a plus.
