Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Avionics Engineer I - Mission Formulation to join their team in Long Beach, CA. This role is crucial for developing high-performance launch vehicle systems, supporting the Launch Systems Business Development and Strategy team. The engineer will be involved in bringing new launch and mission concepts to life, particularly for classified missions on HASTE and Electron launch vehicles, and future missions for Electron and Neutron.Role involves:
- Developing Electron and Neutron mission operational concepts.
- Designing and analyzing electrical and RF systems for payload accommodations.
- Creating electrical schematics, harnesses, and kits.
- Working with external stakeholders for mission-specific requirements.
- Documenting avionics design solutions and participating in design reviews.
- Developing tools and processes for automating proposal analysis tasks.
- Participating in program execution of system commissioning and calibration.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in engineering.
- Experience developing full design solutions for avionics or electrical systems in orbital launch vehicles or missile systems.
- Active DoD US Government Secret security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one.
