Job Description

Degreed is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst to take primary ownership of their end-to-end sales commission process. This is a critical role where the candidate's work directly impacts the business by ensuring the global sales teams are accurately and fairly compensated. The Financial Analyst will reinforce behaviors that drive bookings and retention, maintain the integrity of crucial ARR data used for valuation and board reporting, and support executive decision-making through accurate analysis.

While commissions are the core focus, the Financial Analyst will also support broader FP&A functions, partnering across the business. This position follows a hybrid model, requiring presence in the Draper office 2-3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Commission Cycle: From validating new deals in Salesforce to calculating and issuing accurate commission payments, you’ll manage the full process and ensure timely, transparent communication with reps.
  • Ensure Data Accuracy: Audit and reconcile commission payouts to match plan policies. Identify errors and resolve discrepancies before they impact trust or reporting.
  • Drive Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to automate and streamline workflows using tools like Adaptive Insights, ICM, or even AI innovations in Finance.
  • Support FP&A Initiatives: Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Provide insights into commission expenses and related revenue or ARR trends.
  • Partner Cross-Functionally: Collaborate daily with Sales, RevOps, Accounting, and Finance to ensure alignment and maintain clean, actionable data.
  • Shape Compensation Strategy: Contribute insights to help evolve commission structures that reinforce business goals and high-performance behaviors.

Key Requirements:

  • Up to 3 years of experience in commission analysis, compensation planning, or financial analysis - SaaS experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, ownership mentality and ability for process improvement and potentially automation.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex data, identify trends or discrepancies, and provide actionable insights; strong Excel skills are required, and SQL proficiency is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, NetSuite, and commission/BI tools like Xactly, Adaptive Insights, Planful, or Tableau is highly valued.
  • Understanding of key FP&A principles and financial statements.
  • Experience working across teams and translating technical/contractual terms into practical business guidance.
  • Experience with or interest in using AI to streamline finance workflows.

What Degreed Offers:

  • Comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being, growth, and success.
  • Flexible work arrangements tailored to each role.
