Senior Software Engineer (Reporting Engine)

Job Description

Smartly is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Bobby Tables team in Helsinki, focusing on the core of data aggregation and reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming Smartly's Reporting product, which is a critical component of their AI-powered advertising platform. This role involves working on a number-crunching service that efficiently handles diverse data sources, providing clients with an intuitive report builder and data visualizer tool.

The Senior Software Engineer will empower Smartly teams by making Reporting and Integration solutions more self-sufficient, enabling seamless data exchange and report generation. They will also improve data visualization within the Smartly product and help teams efficiently use the existing framework, gathering technical feedback for future enhancements.

Responsibilities include:

• Planning, implementing, and supporting enhancements to the Reporting engine (backend and frontend).
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams (Designers, Lead Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Product Managers).

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in building scalable distributed systems.
• Strong backend expertise.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL is a plus).
• Experience with large-scale data processing and performance optimization.
• Ownership mindset – ability to lead initiatives, drive improvements, and mentor others.
• Based in Helsinki and able to work in-office three days per week.
