Job Description

Sotheby's is seeking a Bids Coordinator to join their Bids & Client Services Department. The ideal candidate will provide operational support to the bidder experience and the auction process at Sotheby's worldwide headquarters in New York.

The Bids Coordinator will ensure the flawless execution of all auctions in New York, adhering to company policies and best practices, while delivering an exceptional client experience. They will be responsible for registering and executing bids, facilitating auction operations, and providing support to clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, vet, and execute bid registrations via email, phone, and in person.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for Sotheby's.
  • Uphold KYC & AML procedures.
  • Manage telephone bid allocation for live sales.
  • Assist with live auction clerking duties.
  • Centralize interest requests from specialist departments.
  • Gather and assess auction metrics and bidding data.
  • Implement training & onboarding initiatives for temporary staff.
  • Address client concerns and issues.
  • Collaborate with Product & Technology to improve auction platform functionality.
  • Provide exceptional client service in all interactions.
  • Support clients with general inquiries.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years relevant professional experience.
  • Availability to work evenings, early mornings, and weekends.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Operationally minded with an eye for process optimization.
  • Process-driven, logical, and solution-oriented thinker.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Forward-thinking and tech-savvy.
  • Strong comfort with Microsoft Office & Google Suite.
  • Foreign language(s) a plus.
