Senior Android Engineer, Apps Platform

Job Description

Reddit is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join its Apps Platform team. This role is based in San Francisco, CA. The Apps Platform team supports other mobile engineers at Reddit by improving developer efficiency through libraries, APIs, frameworks, performance monitoring, shared components, and build tools. The engineer will contribute to the core components of the app, such as the networking and caching stack, and define design patterns and technologies.Reddit's Senior Android Engineer will be responsible for:

• Driving new features from end-to-end.
• Building the technical foundation for future features and experiences.
• Retrofitting the Reddit Android codebase to utilize modern technologies and best practices.
• Building experiences and creating the patterns for Reddit’s official Android app.
• Partnering across product, design, and engineering teams.
• Participating in the full Android development cycle.

Reddit is looking for candidates who have:

• Expertise in Java or Kotlin with 5+ years of experience within Android development.
• Sound software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience building at least one amazing Android app with a team from start to shipment.
