Job Description
Shakepay is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead their team in reimagining financial services and empowering Canadians in the Bitcoin space. The Director will be responsible for ensuring engineer productivity, coordinating projects, and analyzing technology needs. They will also be involved in interviewing, hiring, mentoring, and growing software engineers and managers.
Role involves:
- Ensuring engineers are productive, learning, and doing meaningful work
- Coordinating and directing projects
- Analyzing technology, resource needs, and market demand
- Interviewing and hiring software engineers
- Mentoring and growing individual contributors and managers
- Driving the strategy for testing and delivering new features
- Collaborating with product, design, legal, and customer support teams
Must-haves:
- 10+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in leadership
- Proven ability to scale teams and systems in high-growth environments
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities
Nice to have:
- Experience with Node.js, Typescript, React-Native, Postgres, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Datadog
- Experience with building financial apps
- Bitcoin knowledge
