Job Description
Whatnot is seeking a Software Engineer to join their Fraud & Risk team. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying scalable fraud detection and prevention systems across various product surfaces. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of abuse vectors and the ability to engineer consumer-scale software.What the role involves:
- Designing new production algorithms and systems to prevent systemic threats.
- Monitoring the potential negative impacts of systems on good users.
- Building event-driven architectures for real-time reaction to high-risk user behavior.
- Contributing to the entire software development process.
- Driving initiatives across multiple product surfaces and communicating findings.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of total software engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of software engineering experience building for consumer-scale loads.
- 1+ years of experience writing production code in Python.
- 1+ years of experience developing fraud detection & prevention systems preferred.
- Business intuition and a data-driven mindset.
- Comfortability with data warehouses and transformation tools.
- Above average documentation and communication skills.
