Job Description
commercetools is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead its Customer's team. This role involves both people and technical leadership, with a strong emphasis on mentorship, knowledge sharing, cultivating belonging, and fostering collaboration. The Customer's team is responsible for providing merchants with the tools to model and manage their customers within the commercetools platform, catering to both B2C and B2B scenarios.
Role Involves:
- Growing and investing in the team's health, motivation, and career development.
- Fostering a culture of constructive feedback and support.
- Conducting regular one-on-one meetings with engineers.
- Ensuring smooth delivery and removing blockers.
- Collaborating with other Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, Agile Coaches, and the CTO.
Requirements:
- Multiple years of experience as a manager of software engineers in a distributed product team.
- An engineering background, ideally in backend development on the JVM.
- Hands-on coding skills (e.g., reviewing PRs, smaller tasks, pairing), software architecture, and system design.
- A track record and passion for growing, coaching, and mentoring a team.
- An excellent understanding of agile software development methodologies, best practices, and tools.
- Excellent communication skills and an empathetic and self-reflective mindset.
- Fluent written and spoken English skills.
- Commitment to knowledge sharing and learning.
