Job Description
Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to join their PlayStation Network team in Tokyo. The PlayStation Network is a network service with over 100 million active users worldwide, built on a microservices architecture. The DBRE will focus on Database / New SQL(NoSQL) / Cache solutions used by Tokyo teams, improving, automating, and strengthening governance of Tokyo's microservices, sharing initiatives with overseas locations, and refining/applying overseas initiatives to Tokyo.
Role involves: - Designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available and scalable database solutions.
- Automating and streamlining database operations through IaC, tool development, and process improvement.
- Visualizing, maintaining, and improving database performance and health.
- Collaborating with global DBREs and service development teams to resolve database-related incidents and performance bottlenecks.
- Implementing and enforcing security best practices.
- Performing capacity planning and performance tuning.
- Documenting system configurations, designs, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Staying current with database technologies and sharing knowledge with the team.
Requirements: - Experience operating storage and cache technologies such as MySQL, Memcached, Redis, and AWS DynamoDB.
- Experience with SQL and scripting languages (Python, Go, etc.).
- Experience developing/operating with cloud service providers.
- Experience with IaC using Terraform or Ansible.
- Basic Linux knowledge.
- English proficiency for communication via email, chat, conference calls, and business trips.
