Sr Systems - Network Engineer

Job Description

DeepIntent is seeking a Sr Systems - Network Engineer to manage and maintain its Linux-based systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Linux operating systems, strong problem-solving skills, familiarity with the AWS ecosystem and Infrastructure as Code (IaaC), foundational knowledge of network protocols, and a proven track record of administering complex, mission-critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing and maintaining Linux servers, ensuring availability, performance, and security.
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining system configurations, including server hardware and storage solutions.
• Monitoring system and network performance, conducting regular system audits, and troubleshooting issues proactively.
• Performing system software and application installations, upgrades, and patching.
• Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and policies.
• Implementing and managing L4/L7 Load Balancers.
• Implementing security best practices, including access controls, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Collaborating with multiple teams in maintaining their services, providing support and consulting services.
• Scrutinizing the latest news on emerging vulnerabilities that could potentially impact our infrastructure and services.
• Managing users, permissions, authentication, and troubleshooting for various services.
• Partnering with development teams to provide infrastructure support for application deployment and debugging efforts.
• Ensuring robust data backup and recovery procedures are in place and regularly tested for effectiveness.
• Staying current with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and enhancements to the existing infrastructure.
• Participating in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support and incident response.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Demonstrable experience as a Linux Administrator, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior capacity.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python, with a strong emphasis on automation.
• Solid understanding of network protocols, firewall configuration, and security best practices.
• Experience with virtualization technologies and containerization.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, such as AWS and GCP.
• Expertise in utilizing monitoring tools.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, Linux+, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator) are considered a plus.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools is advantageous.
• Familiarity with the Kubernetes ecosystem is a plus.
