Job Description

dbt Labs is seeking a Staff Customer Resident Architect to provide technical guidance to strategic accounts. The role involves supporting pre-sales, accelerating adoption, enabling key migrations, and mitigating churn risks. The ideal candidate will deploy RA-level expertise to drive growth, retention, and expansion.

Responsibilities:

  • Support strategic pre-sales opportunities with technical expertise.
  • Assist in launching and onboarding new customers to dbt Cloud.
  • Execute proactive adoption plays, including migrations and new feature implementations.
  • Lead reactive adoption initiatives to de-risk churn and position accounts for growth.
  • Advise on architecture, design, implementation, and troubleshooting in dbt Cloud environments.
  • Build solution MVPs and guide long-term technical strategies.
  • Partner with Customer Solutions Architects (CSAs), Sales, and Support.
  • Provide feedback to Product and Engineering to improve customer experience.
  • Track and manage capacity and engagement effectiveness.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years in technical customer-facing roles.
  • Expertise with a modern cloud data platform (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift).
  • Hands-on experience with dbt Cloud.
  • Strong SQL proficiency; working knowledge of Python.
  • Experience leading technical project delivery.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Collaborative mindset.
  • Willingness to travel 2–4 times per year.
