Senior Backend Engineer, Grafana IRM (Remote, Canada EST)

Job Description

Grafana Labs is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Grafana IRM squad. This is a remote position based in Canada (EST). The Grafana IRM squad manages critical services that assist Grafana and other organizations in incident response. The team's mission is to streamline incident detection, response, and learning through automation. The role involves working within frontend, backend, and mobile functional squads, focusing on unified experience, automation, integration, and Observability Native principles.

What this role involves:

• Influencing the roadmap and career objectives.
• Delivering new features and iterating based on results.
• Driving projects from ideation to operations.
• Contributing to open-source projects.
• Designing, building, operating, and maintaining critical systems.
• Participating in on-call rotations.
• Mentoring and supporting team members.
• Learning new skills related to cloud products and distributed systems.

Requirements:

• Solid experience with at least one programming language (Go and Python preferred).
• Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering to product shipping.
• Experience developing software in the Cloud or systems engineering.
• Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software.

Nice to haves:

• Experience working with Kubernetes.
• Experience with Grafana and Prometheus.
• Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with being on-call and performing operations/SRE tasks.
