Sr./Executive Director, Translational Research

Job Description

Legend Biotech is seeking a Sr./Executive Director, Head of Translational Research. This role is part of the Research & Development team and is based in Somerset, NJ. The individual will lead the translational sciences group, providing biomarker support for Legend's pipeline development. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of immunology and tumor biology, with experience in cell or gene therapy development being preferred. He/she will be responsible for the design, delivery, and execution of biomarker and translational strategies, including patient selection, pharmacodynamic endpoints, target engagement, and pharmacodynamics and safety biomarkers. The individual will collaborate closely with preclinical, CMC, and clinical development teams to develop mechanism of action hypotheses and identify key characteristics of cell therapy products.Role involves:

• Leading the translational team and providing preclinical and clinical translational support.
• Coaching and leading translational representatives in cross-functional development teams.
• Establishing translational biomarker strategies aligned with clinical development objectives.
• Leading translational safety investigations and developing MOA hypotheses.
• Working closely with clinical and regulatory teams on various documents.
• Accountable for patient selection strategies and CDx development.
• Providing oversight and management to CROs and academic collaborations.

Requirements:

• PhD or MD in biology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related field.
• At least 15 years of relevant work experience, including 10 years in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Experience in cell therapy clinical development is preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in CDx development are a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of immunology and tumor biology.
• Strong background in clinical biomarker analysis and research tools.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
