Job Description
Tenstorrent is seeking a GDDR7 IP Validation and Firmware Engineer to contribute to the validation and enablement of their next-generation GDDR7 PHY and controller IP. This hybrid role, based in Toronto or Santa Clara, involves post-silicon validation, firmware development, and collaboration with cross-functional teams and memory vendors. The candidate will play a crucial role in delivering robust and high-performance memory subsystems.
Responsibilities:
- Lead post-silicon validation of GDDR7 PHY and controller IP.
- Develop and execute validation plans based on JEDEC specs and system use cases.
- Design and implement firmware tools to support link training, diagnostics, and calibration flows.
- Build automated lab test infrastructure for data capture, regression, and stress testing using scripting.
- Collaborate with IP vendors, DRAM partners, and internal teams on training algorithms and debug strategies.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve system-level issues, support reliability validation, and enhance memory subsystem performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical or Computer Engineering with experience in high-speed memory interface validation and embedded firmware development.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ for embedded platforms.
- Experience with memory technologies such as GDDR7, GDDR6, DDR5, LPDDR5, or HBM.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell Scripting) for automation and lab tooling.
- Deep understanding of JEDEC memory interface standards and PHY-level training flows.
- Hands-on experience with lab tools and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, BERTs, logic analyzers, and protocol decoders.
- Proven ability to debug hardware/firmware interaction in silicon and system-level environments.
Tenstorrent offers:
- A highly competitive compensation package and benefits.
