Job Description
Google DeepMind is seeking a Research Scientist / Tech Lead Manager to join their team in Mountain View, California, to work on an ambitious project focused on building generative models that simulate the physical world. This role will initially be a Research Scientist position, with the opportunity to grow and lead a small team, evolving into a hybrid individual contributor and management role.Google DeepMind believes that scaling pretraining on video and multimodal data is critical for achieving artificial general intelligence. The team will collaborate with and build upon the work of the Gemini, Veo, and Genie teams, addressing new challenges to scale world models to the highest levels of compute.Responsibilities:
  • Implement core infrastructure and conduct research to build generative models of the physical world.
  • Solve essential problems to train world simulators at massive scale.
  • Develop metrics and scaling laws for physical intelligence.
  • Curate and annotate training data.
  • Enable real-time interactive generation.
  • Study integration of world models with multimodal language models.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of experience leading researchers in a fast-moving and fast-changing environment.
  • Experience with large-scale transformer models and/or large-scale data pipelines.
  • MSc or PhD in computer science or machine learning, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Track record of releases, publications, and/or open source projects relating to video generation, world models, multimodal language models, or transformer architectures.
  • Strong systems and engineering skills in deep learning frameworks like JAX or PyTorch.
The role offers:
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge research in world modeling and generative AI.
  • Collaboration with leading researchers and engineers at Google DeepMind.
