Job Description
Ketchum is seeking a Vice President of Media Relations with expertise in technology to join their Earned Media Center of Excellence team. The VP will be responsible for proactive earned media engagement on behalf of Ketchum’s clients, particularly in the technology space. The ideal candidate will embody the team values of being curious, courageous, and committed, while working closely with media teams, account teams, and clients.
The Vice President will lead media strategy and execution for one of Ketchum's largest clients at the business division and enterprise level. They will build and maintain media relationships to promote technology services, including cybersecurity, cloud, and generative AI. A deep understanding of business technology trends is crucial.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as senior counsel to clients and account teams
- Develop consultative relationships with team members, account teams, and key client contacts
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the technology industry and competitive environment
- Build and execute media strategies with precision
- Write media materials, including press releases, statements, and pitches
- Prepare senior executives and spokespeople for media interviews
- Actively shape the Earned Media Team’s POV on media relations and strategy
- Manage team members and mentor staff across teams
- Seek incremental business opportunities with existing account teams/clients
- Function as a key player in pursuing new business opportunities
Requirements:
- Ten years of combined public relations, marketing communications, or media experience, particularly in technology
- Demonstrated success in senior-level media relations
- Strategic understanding of established and emerging media verticals
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, meet deadlines, and keep manager and team updated
- Excellent verbal, written, project management, and presentation skills
